Amon Duul II - Phallus Dei

Phallus Dei was the first album by German band Amon Düül II. The album, mostly instrumental, sets a new standard for "black music", and remains as one of the most hellish orgies in the history of rock music. The entire album was played in a random and naive tone that pales in comparison with the austere and calculated approach of the British progressive rock. But this claim is contradicted on appeal: this is a town of hippies who offer more spontaneous approach to rock jamming. Texts address with irreverence and irrationality sacred themes, philosophical, zany, initiatic, fairytale, biblical, anti-biblical, satanic, social and psychedelic, alternating between German, English-like language and incomprehensible. A thousand contradictory elements, hot and dangerous reaction, as in a magic cauldron stirred by mad alchemists intent to evoke the devil. Certainly not to sell his soul, but, more likely, to make us party and maybe a nice jam session.

For Italians:
