Matching Mole, released in 1972, is the debut album of progressive English band Matching Mole, belonging to the genre of the Canterbury scene. After the experience with the Soft Machine, Robert Wyatt creates these Matching Mole (literally "mole which corresponds perfectly", but in reality it is "Machine Molle", which is nothing but the French translation of "Soft Machine") , which will last for the space of two discs until the accident in which Wyatt lose a leg. Is an album that starts light, dominated by keyboards (David Sinclair and Dave McRae) and the shaky voice of Wyatt. O Caroline and Signed Curtain are much closer to Rock Bottom than to the sounds of Soft Machine. It's in songs like Instant Pussy or Instant Kitten that the band is able, through very acid leaks on the edge of insanity, to explore the musical universes still virgins.

Matching Mole, realizzato nel 1972, è l'album di debutto della gruppo inglese progressivo Matching Mole, legato al genere della scena di Canterbury. Dopo l’esperienza con i Soft Machine, Robert Wyatt crea questi Matching Mole (letteralmente “Talpa che corrisponde perfettamente”, ma in realtà si tratta di un’anglicizzazione di “Machine Molle”, che non è altro che la traduzione in francese di “Soft Machine”), che dureranno lo spazio di due dischi fino all’incidente nel quale Wyatt perderà una gamba. E' un disco che inizia leggero, dominato dalle tastiere (David Sinclair e Dave McRae) e dalla tremolante voce di Wyatt. O Caroline e Signed Curtain sono molto più vicine a Rock Bottom che non alle sonorità dei Soft Machine. È in brani come Instant Pussy o Instant Kitten che la band riesce, attraverso acidissime fughe sul filo della pazzia, ad esplorare gli universi musicali ancora vergini.
